Coup in Uhuru’s Mt Kenya Backyard, as Moses Kuria Feats

Uhuru Kenyatta’s popularity in Mount Kenya is under major test as Ruto and allies gain significant political mileage in the region.

The recent by-elections have revealed a major paradigm shift in the Mt Kenya voting pattern, sending signals that the region no longer embrace their purported Kingpin Uhuru Kenyatta. The region had been predominantly known for following the wish of their Master, but things are gradually changing.

The election outcome combined with High Court ruling on BBI has been a big blow to Uhuru and associates.

Goerge Koimburi of PEP hammered Jubilee’s Susan Waititu in the concluded Juja mini polls. PEP is a Party associated with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.

DP Ruto allies including Moses Kuria, Irungu Kang’ata, Ndindi Nyoro and Rigathi Gachagua have celebrated Juja’s electoral victory. Koimburi thanked the DP and his team for putting a spirited battle to trounce the State sponsored candidate, despite threats.

Koimburi won the seat by a landslide. He garnered 12,159 votes against his closest rival Susan Waititu who got 5,746 votes. DP Ruto’s camp also won the Rurii ward seat in Nyandarua County, while Raila’s ODM bagged the Bonchari constituency seat.

Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and County MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba disputed the results, while counting was still underway.  The tallying process was temporarily stopped after scuffles emerged.

Moses Kuria confirmed holding meeting with Kiambu MCAs over initiating process to impeach governor Nyoro. Nyoro is accused of causing disturbance at Mangu High School tallying center.

“Kiambu governor stands a risk of being impeached; we have held several discussions with Kiambu MCAs regarding the criminal conduct of Governor Nyoro. As the DPP takes up the matter following the directions of IEBC, the MCAs will concurrently move to impeach Dr. Nyoro,” Kuria stated.

Why Uhuru Lost Control of Mt Kenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta lost control of Mt Kenya after he closed ranks with ODM leader Raila Odinga. The region that overwhelmingly voted for him was irked by the decision to embrace Raila and isolate Ruto.

The President held various meetings with regional leaders to forge a way forward and shut Ruto’s inroads. Moses Kuria once implored the president to bring development to Central Kenya. According to Kuria, the region had not benefited from Uhuru’s presidency.

In the concluded by-elections, Jubilee lost all the contests signifying the dwindling fortunes of the once vibrant ruling Party.

Why Matiang'i comeback threatens Ruto's re-election bid

Former Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i is a great rival to President William Ruto in his 2027 re-election contest. Matiang'i is set to give Ruto a run for his money, owing to his track record as a cabinet secretary in the previous regime.  Former President Uhuru Kenyatta trusted Matiang'i more than any other cabinet secretary due to his workaholic nature and might be forced to finance his presidential quest.  The former Interior CS is reportedly eyeing the presidential seat on a Jubilee ticket, as alluded by the party's secretary general Jeremiah Kioni.
